Saltwater Overture

Sea Epic Suite · 2026 — a four-note call that swells, breaks and returns with every tide of the story.

Conductor leading an orchestra through a sweeping passage

The story

The whole suite grows from four notes — a call first heard on solo horn over black water. Each return changes its meaning: a farewell in act one, a warning in act two, a homecoming in the finale.

We recorded the brass in a stone hall for real air, then set storms of percussion and low woodwinds rolling underneath. When the call finally resolves, the orchestra simply stops — and the sea finishes the cue.

Inside the score

  • A four-note tide motif mutating across every cue
  • Brass swells recorded in a stone hall
  • Storm percussion built from ship-deck recordings
  • Full stems delivered for the final dub
